Keeley Electronics reimagines the Klon Centaur with the Manis Overdrive pedal
Pedals
Guitar pedal legend Robert Keeley reimagined Bill Finnegan’s mythical Klon Centaur pedal and came up with the Manis Overdrive. Besides being able to fully clone the original Klon circuit you also get two switches: a bass boost to fatten the bottom of your sound by lowering the frequency response by one octave and increasing the output by +3dB and one for switching between germanium NOS transistors and diodes. The latter offering a big difference in feel with increased saturation, compression and probably juiciness as well (sidenote: those transistors and diodes are apparently real Russian ones sourced through Ukraine).
The “essential” germanium diodes are at the heart of the myth. By substituting essential germanium diodes with germanium transistors (circa Cold War era) we increase the compression and saturation of the tone.
The Manis is fully built in the USA, includes both buffered bypass and true bypass switching and is available in both silver and black.
