Seymour Duncan JB Jr for Tele Bridge Pickup
Pickups
Seymour Duncan‘s original JB humbucker was one of their original pickups that put the company on the map when they started back in the 70s, offering a hotter output than PAF pickups paired with vintage speakers and people swear by them to this day. Now, finally, they’ve made a telecaster bridge model of the JB dubbed the JB Jr for Tele.
Friday trivia: Officially Seymour Duncan states that “JB” stands for “Jazz Blues” but unofficially everyone knows it’s for Jeff Beck since while the pickup was indeed initially designed and made for him they never had an official endorsement deal.
The pickup utilizes the classic telecaster bridge shape of course, but they’ve crammed two coils into that single coil space. While the original JB humbuckers used Alnico V magnets, these ones use ceramic ones but they’ve basically matched the output: 16.6k on the JB, 16.28k on the JB Jr.
They’re then vacuum wax potted to eliminate squeal and feature 4-conductor lead wires for potential series/parallel/split coil wiring options.
