Epiphone SG Tribute Plus: Both Inspired by Gibson and Affordable
Guitars
Considering all the expensive guitars Epiphone released the last few years it’s refreshing to see them focus on something a bit more affordable like the Inspired by Gibson Epiphone SG Tribute Plus line. These take great step up from the previous SG Tribute series and offers a classic Gibson SG mahogany body shape with a flame maple veneer in three glossy finishes (Ebony Burst, Vintage Sunburst and Cherry Burst). The mahogany neck features bolt-on construction with a 60s slim taper rounded C profile.
Price-wise you get these for just $349 (or €399) which sounds like a deal to me, pretty much half the price compared to the Epiphone Inspired By Gibson SG Custom for instance. Could be either a great starter guitar for a novice or intermediate player or a really sweet modding platform.
Specs include:
- Bolt-on mahogany neck on a maple-veneered mahogany body
- Bound laurel fretboard with 22 medium jumbo frets with pearloid trapezoid inlays
- Epiphone LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge + tailpiece
- Epiphone 700T humbucker (bridge pickup), Epiphone 650R humbucker (neck pickup)
- 2 volume, 2 tone knobs with a 3-way switch
- Available for lefties
- Price point at €399 or $349
