Fender x Monster Hunter Rathalos Telecaster

Fender worked together with Capcom to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the game Monster Hunter with a special limited edition Telecaster, or more specifically the fire dragon Rathalos – a monster featured in the game. Now, I’m not gonna lie, I thought this looked more like Christmas decorations to begin with but maybe it makes more sense if you’ve actually played the game (which I haven’t).

But Fender words it better:

The guitar symbolizes the formidable power of the fire dragon Rathalos, frequently dubbed the “King of the Skies”, and considered an icon of the “Monster Hunter” game series. The majestic presence of the Rathalos has been meticulously incorporated throughout the instrument with its icon on the body back and 12th fret inlay, the distinctive feather and flame patterns as well as the guild mark on the body front.

Spec-wise the Monster Hunter Rathalos Telecaster gets:

• Satin finished alder body
• Rathalos icon on the back and as a 12th fret inlay
• 9.5″ c-shaped neck (22 medium jumbo frets)
• Distortion-friendly Monster Hunter Rathalos humbucking neck pickup as well as single-coil bridge pickup
• Special black hardshell case including a collaboration badge, COA
• Number engraved on the neck plate
• 3-saddle vintage-style string-through bridge (slanted brass barrel saddles)
• Vintage-style locking tuners
