PRS SE NF3: Want a Silver Sky with triple humbuckers?
GuitarsAs a new owner to a PRS SE McCarty 594 I’m absolutely loving what PRS is doing with their SE models lately: PRS Guitars just launched the PRS SE NF3, a guitar with the neck and body assembly taken from the SE Silver Sky but with parts of it goes all the way back to their original 35 year old EG model while some innovations come from the more modern SE CE and Swamp Ash special, personally I think it looks great with the shaping of the upper horn on this one (which seems to differ a bit from, say, the Silver Sky with the straighter Strat shaping, it complements the “PRS swoop” quite well).
Now, a big difference to the Silver Sky with its triple single coils is of course that this comes armed with triple PRS Narrowfield DD (Deep Dish) “S” humbuckers. This is the first time the Narrowfields are put on a SE guitar and they’re made with taller bobbins to fit more winds and extra metal pieces between the magnets. According to PRS they’re a perfect match for anyone looking to play rock, blues, gospel, country or jazz so it would be pretty safe to assume they’re not piping hot.
Other features include a 5-way blade pickup switch, poplar body, 22 fret bolt-on maple wide-thin neck, 25″ scale length, either rosewood or maple fretboard, PRS tremolo and four absolutely fantastic finishes.
