Gretsch G5230T Electromatic Sparkle Jet With Bigsby in Gold & Silver
Guitars
I’m a big fan of single-cut Gretsch Electromatic Jets (although I personally find them even prettier without the pickguard) and here is the Gretsch G5230T Electromatic Sparkle Jet now available in either Silver Sparkle or Gold Sparkle. Both featuring B50 Bigsby trems, anchored Adjusto-Matic bridge, arched maple tops, chambered mahogany bodies, black/white binding and thin “U” shape mahogany necks with 12″-radius laurel fingerboards featuring their classic and discreet thumbnail inlays (or “pearloid Neo-Classic thumbnail” as Gretsch likes to call them).
Other features include the classic Gretsch 24.6″ scale length, all chrome hardware, a synthetic bone nut, a silver plexi pickguard with the Gretsch logo and 22 medium jumbo frets.
Pickup-wise you get two humbucking Gretsch FT-5E Filter’Trons which they promise to provide “classic chime with enhanced presence, clarity and note definition”. Sadly I’ve actually never played a guitar with Filter’Trons yet so I can’t confirm, but looking forward to it.
The controls on these are slightly different if you’re used to, say, a Gibson. Besides the 3-position pickup toggle you got a cluster of the classic knurled G-arrow knobs for the neck and bridge volume plus master tone and then a separate treble bleed circuit master volume knob.
