Baum Guitars “Wingman” wins gold at the 2024 New York Product Design Award
GuitarsYay, I finally get to post something about Baum Guitars: This fresh (10 years is still regarded as fresh in the guitar world, right?) guitar company from Denmark just won gold at the 2024 New York Product Design Award for their Wingman guitar among a pool of over 1,000 other submissions and to me that win sounds incredibly well earned.
I think the Wingman is among the best looking new guitars I’ve seen in a long, long time. Perfectly fusing tried-and-true retro shapes with modern thinking which is way harder to pull off than it looks. Got to get my hands on one, one of these days…
If you haven’t checked out this particular guitar before, besides the obvious sleek Scandinavian design and finishes (Deep Forest, Crimson Red, Dolphin Blue, Ocean Mist, Vintage White, and Pure Black) you get:
- Baum’s own retro-vibed Goldsound Goldbucker mini-humbucker pickups or Goldsound Jabmaster P90 single-coils (Alnico V)
- Mahogany body
- Modern C-profile neck in roasted maple
- 12″ rosewood fretboard with satin lacquer finish and medium jumbo frets plus Baum Crown inlays
- Levitator roller bridge with solid brass wheels
- Bigsby B50 tremolo / Stoptail
- TUSQ nut
- Baum’s own 21:1 precision tuners with solid brass shaft
- A Baum gigbag (Baum hardcase optional).

(If the look of the guitar appeals to you but you’re looking for a more budget friendly alternative, they have it in their Vega series as well with different inlays and other hardware specs. Check out the Baum Vega Wingman, from $999)
